Pinboard has got a bit of a Theophilus London fest going on. Grab a new track from the emo-soul man and check out his Vimby video here. And he’s also got a nice unreleased Brandy track.

Nu-Soul Mag has got an in-depth review of Finale’s album “A Pipe Dream and A Promise” which by all accounts should be a solid hip-hop album.

Soulbounce has the details and some interesting thoughts on the upcoming Amerie album to be released on Def Jam.

The Audio Diva herself is checking for a soulful Scottish lad by the name of Paolo Nutini.

A little while ago we highlighted London’s excellent “Cold Pillow” track and now he has just dropped his “This Charming Mixtape” download. This sees London delving more into the electro/nu wave side of things. This coupled with his pleading vocal intonations, nerd-punk style, and generally dark-hued outlook require a whole other genre. Emo-soul I’m calling it! I’m still kinda reserving judgement on the mixtape as a whole – besides Cold Pillow, I’m not getting that much into it yet. But in any case, it’s worth a listen – definitely an interesting point of departure from your usual progressive soul stuff.

This is a fantastic slice of moody electro-soul from 2 very buzzed-about artists at the moment – Theophilus London and Jesse Boykins III. “Cold Pillow” is taken from Theophilus’ upcoming project, This Charming Mixtape, a precursor to his debut EP, This Charming Man. After hearing this track I went and downloaded his JAM! mixtape which upon initial listening at least,  I was less impressed with. But I’ll be keeping tabs on Mr. London and eyes open for the This Charming Man project on the strength of “Cold Pillow”. Here’s the official blurb on the song:
