Steven Lopez contacted me the other day and just about knocked my socks off with his awesome video series “After Midnight.” The concept is that he takes a song from a soul singer he digs (Jill Scott, Sade, Erykah Badu for example) and records a time-lapse video of him painting a portrait of that singer, set to the particular song that inspired him. The result are some really nice, stylized portraits of some great singers. Evidently Steven is turning some heads with his work. Check out the story on his blog of how he met Jill Scott and was able to give her his painting. Word is that some other major developments are on the way as a result of all this, and I’ll be keeping you posted on what this talented dude is up to.
Check out his Jill Scott “Hate On Me” piece:

I'm Lucy Beer and I run this here blog. I like soul, hip-hop and electronic music, and anything that blurs those lines. Also, if you're a rapper and your name is 'Lil something, it's probably not a good fit for this blog ;)
