Brittany Bosco is a progressive soul diva out of Savannah, GA, and honestly that’s about as much as I know about her except that her quite excellent EP “Spectrum” is available for free download and has been creating quite some buzz just recently. Her sound easily traverses terrain from progressive, space-age soul (eg “Glitch”, “City of Nowhere”) to a sound rooted more obviously in classic funk and soul such as “8-Trak” and “It Was You.” She pulls it all together with a natural ease - this lady is the real deal. Grab the Spectrum below and stay tuned for more from Ms. Bosco.

Replife - Free DownloadI’m on a bit of a Replife roll at the moment, so I thought I’d give y’all a little taste of the man’s music in case you happen to still be sleeping. “Change 4 A Dolla” is taken from his album The Unclosed Mind which was recently released via Futuristica and can be copped at MobileUnderground.com.

Download “Change 4 A Dolla”.

You may also have heard Rep on tracks with The Politik. He’s also part of the Strictly Social fam, having performed at both Strictly Social: NY Edition, and October’s LA Strictly Social at Little Temple Bar - check the coverage here. Replife is a true original, blending broken beats with his hip-hop sensibilities and blazing intellect. You can hear a couple more tracks in the player below. And “Change 4 A Dolla” is kicking off our new feature - the Beatlife Featured Download.

Strictly Social had another great night at LA’s Little Temple Bar on October 22nd. Electric performances from each of Replife, Michelle Shaprow and Les Brown & The Now demonstrated the spirit of Strictly Social. Resident DJ Destroyer along with DJ Myxzlplix and DJ Kaleem kept the vibe flowing with their on-point selections. A birthday party was also in the house so a memorable time was had by all. Check out Nu-Soul Mag for further coverage and pics.

Miguel is an LA-based artist who was  signed to Jive Records earlier this year. He’s also appeared on Blu’s Below The Heavens and the Johnson&Jonson album (under the name Jontel). And I learned via FreshSelects that he co-wrote Musiq’s “If You Leave” and Usher’s “Revolver”. He recently dropped a free ep/mixtape which is pretty hot and filled with radio-friendly but still a little edgy, R&B. My fave track is probably “Dig”.

Anthony Valadez - Go -Record BreakinLos Angelenos know DJ Anthony Valadez as one of the hardest working DJs in town. He holds down several residencies at spots like Little Temple and Zanzibar. He has opened for the likes of Les Nubians, Ben Harper, Nikka Costa, Talib Kweli, Meshell Ndegeocello, Eric Roberson, Van Hunt, Sa Ra Creative Partners, Aloe Blacc, Platinum Pied Pipers, Doug E Fresh and much more. He can also now be found on the tastemaking radio station KCRW.

In addition to his vinyl-juggling schedule, Vala also finds time to produce some dope tracks. He has remixed projects for Ammon Contact,  Build an Ark, and was featured on Mochilla’s Keepintime Soundtrack alongside Daedelus,Nobody, Cut Chemist, J Rocc and much more. Now, in conjunction with the homie DJ Junior, he has just released a single on Record Breakin’ Music entitled “Go” featuring Wendisue and John Robinson. You can cop the limited edition 7″ single here. Oh yea, and he did the cover art for it as well. Take a listen:

I stumbled upon this recently on the internets. A new (to my ears) Little Dragon track “Infinite Love”. In reality it looks like this track has been floating around for a few months, I’m just late to the game. But oh well. If you’ve read this blog for a while you’ll know that I’m fairly obsessed with Little Dragon, so anything new from them is welcome to my ears. This track was included in an online campaign by Cartier called Love, and it’s a good midtempo slice of Little Dragon-esque electro-y soul.  You can download it below. Sadly the only version seems to be in 96kbps, but better than nothing eh?
